CSS Specificity

So today we are going to touch on the fundamental point system used in CSS, mastering this sytem will give you the understanding to know why a style is applied and control the outcome.

Element = 1 point
Class = 10 points
ID = 100 points
Inline Styling = 1000 points

When used together the points add together, so if you used body p.class, That would be 12 points, 2 for the elements and 10 for the class.

  1. Greetings! I know this is kinda off topic but I’d figured I’d ask. Would you be interested in exchanging links or maybe guest writing a blog article or vice-versa? My blog goes over a lot of the same topics as yours and I feel we could greatly benefit from each other. If you are interested feel free to shoot me an e-mail. I look forward to hearing from you! Awesome blog by the way!
